The Storm Initiative is a newly founded organization created in response to a clear and pressing need: too many survivors of sexual trauma, intimate partner violence, and domestic violence fall through gaps in existing systems of care. We were formed from the belief that no survivor should have to navigate the impact of trauma alone—or be left without support simply because services are fragmented, inaccessible, or unavailable at the moment they reach out.

Founded by advocates and survivors, The Storm Initiative began with a commitment to listen closely to what survivors and professionals alike have been saying for years: support often exists, but connection, education, and trauma-informed response are inconsistent. Our goal is to help bridge those gaps by offering survivor-centered education, virtual support groups, professional training, and resource connection that meet people where they are.

Our name reflects both the turbulence many survivors experience and the resilience they carry through it. From the very beginning, we have focused on creating spaces that honor survivor voice, reduce isolation, and promote understanding—without judgment, pressure, or clinical framing.

As we grow, The Storm Initiative exists to strengthen what already works, address what is missing, and ensure that fewer survivors are overlooked or unsupported. At the core of our work is a guiding truth: survivors are not broken. They are whole, capable, and deserving of respect, informed support, and systems that respond with compassion and accountability. We are here to help build those systems—one connection, one conversation, and one community at a time.
